5 Days To Go!

Michael and I first met on July 28th, 2022 when Michael picked me up for our first date. I remember opening the front door and seeing him standing in the front porch holding flowers in the rain. However, we really first talked on July 23rd when I matched with him on Hinge. He was very upfront and asked me on a date and left his number. I was nervous to text him because I was moving for veterinary school in just two weeks but knew there was something special, and with some friends’ encouragement, I decided to give it a shot!

From the start, he was a gentleman, opening the car door for me even though it was raining. We immediately hit it off on the drive to our first dinner together at Cilantro’s. We had some laughs when I picked my quesadilla up and noticed him using his utensils like a civilized person. After dinner, we headed to Pin’s Mechanical and Michael chickened out of holding my hand on the drive there (he was nervous). I absolutely kicked his butt in bocce ball, and we were smitten by the time we started bowling. We were more interested in talking than bowling, and a worker had to come tell us to speed it up or leave the lane. So we left the lane and kept talking until Pin’s was closing.

Before we left, Michael went to the bathroom (really to hype himself up) and kissed me on the cheek before he went. As we walked out holding hands, Michael asked me if I was looking for a relationship. I told him yes, but I was leaving soon for four years of school, but he said that wouldn’t stop him. At that point I was tired of waiting for him to make a move, so I pulled him and gave him a BIG ole’ kiss. Even after 6 hours we didn’t want the night to end, so Michael took the scenic route back to my house. Arriving back at my house, he walked me to the door, kissed me goodnight, and asked me when he could take me on another date. We were both too giddy and excited to sleep and stayed up even later texting each other that night, and I knew this was something special.

From there our relationship blossomed. Through the hectic craziness of moving me up to Knoxville, Phillip breaking his arm and needing surgery, and me being a ball of anxiety about starting school, Michael was my rock. He did anything and everything to help me and my family. At that point, I knew he was the man I had been waiting for my whole life. Things moved fast, and just two weeks later on the night before I moved to Knoxville we said “I love you”.

Throughout it all, my four surgeries, both of us being in professional school, the distance and periods we had to go without being together, our love never faltered and only grew stronger.

Michael is more than I could have ever prayed for. I thank the Lord every day for putting such a kind, loving, strong, thoughtful, and patient man in my life. I cannot wait to be his wife and start this new chapter with him. June 7th, 2026 is going to be the best day ever!!! I love you Michael Joseph Aguon.
